Change needed
To the editor:
An important primary race is heating up in the Republican Party for the 41B state House of
Representatives seat (representing parts of Edina and Bloomington). Jan Schneider, the
endorsed Republican candidate, is up against the incumbent, Neil Peterson, in the primary
election Sept. 9. Jan Schneider owns a small local consulting company and Neil Peterson is a
30-year politician.
Jan Schneider won the Republican Party endorsement by a sweeping margin over Neil
Peterson for his present seat. Republican convention delegates and alternates sent a strong
message that they were unhappy with the results of the incumbent and voiced a need for
change. His vote to override the governor's veto of the $6.6 billion transportation bill meant a
new gas tax and sales tax that has outraged Republicans and other voters.
Jan is a strong businessperson and has served as chair of the Bloomington Planning
Commission and as a board member for the Chamber of Commerce. Jan has the highest
level of integrity, she is knowledgeable of the issues, and will work hard to get things done.
Her intellect, her leadership qualities and her ability to collaborate effectively with others are
competencies we need in the House.
We now have a choice. Responsible spending will be accomplished by our votes, one seat at
a time. Join me and vote for Jan Schneider for the 41B House seat Sept. 9.
